about

The song tells the story of a town facing a unique problem. The town has overgrown with algae and dulse (a type of seaweed), which is causing problems with the plumbing and making the residents itch, possibly due to a reaction or infestation. The issue is so severe that it's impacting the structural makeup of the town and even causing audible disruptions that can be heard from homes.

Enter the solution, a character referred to as "Uncle Aqua." It appears that Uncle Aqua is some sort of creature or entity that feeds on the overgrowth plaguing the town. He does this with intense energy and passion, dramatically improving the condition of the town's water supply.

Uncle Aqua's behavior suggests he might be some kind of aquatic bird, due to the mention of "feathers" and the way he "divebombs" into the water and "pecks" at the algae and diatoms. His actions purify the previously murky waters.

In essence, this song is an imaginative narrative about environmental issues, personification of nature, and the balance of ecosystems. The refrain at the end of each verse serves to remind listeners of the indispensable role Uncle Aqua plays in maintaining the town's water health.

lyrics

I didn’t see it, but I heard the impact from my home
It altered the structural makeup of the town.
They said we need it, this whole place is too overgrown
This scratching and sneezing will drive us all out

I opened my window (*but pronounced “winder”) and heard a man whisper - “It’s Uncle Aqua”

When it was first built, this deep sea set fortress was clean
The town planners didn’t anticipate this
So then as time passed, the place got too fuzzy and green
It clogged up the plumbing and made us all itch

He’s done in one hour. We need it, the power of Uncle Aqua.

“Oh! What have we here, another place in need?
A common problem this is, oh yes indeed!
Oh! Are you surprised to learn of on what I feed?
A prized and coveted treat for my particular breed!”

You should have seen him have at it - the algae and dulse!
A frenzied explosion of feathers and scum.
Purify waters once murky and glum.
DIVEBOMB IN, SIMPLY DEMOLISH THE DIATOMS — RELENTLESSLY PECK AND WITH SUCH RECKLESS FERVOUR HE’S DONE!

More “bunga”, less “cower”. The next time you shower, thank Uncle Aqua.
